I tried do more building box but because of the picture are not suitable, it looks so ugly.

Furthermore, I contacted Simona and she said she will add snapper, terikihi and gurnard in fish and chip shop. She will renew the menu as well.

Last, I tried to do the skybox by using this panorama. However, I prefer to use the old one because this is also not clear enough. The edges are obvious. So I will change another panorama to make the skybox tomorrow.

I talked with Darryl and he gave me lots supports. I will made another skybox because there are some problem with the old one. For the same picture, I upload it into different sandbox it showed differently. I didn't know the reason that the simona's sandbox not as clear as mine. So I'm going to do another one to fix this problem. Second, I'm going to build the expression street with some kiwi style words which same as the picture showed below.

Third, I will put some words like Kumara out of fish and chip shop. So students could know their meaning and get some practices in this shop. At last, I will get the script which could show the words people said in blackboard.

I took some picture of Queen Street shops. The building there are so awesome! I love this kind of buildings. However, after I came back and tried to do some house box I found that the pixels are not clear enough. Furthermore, because of the distance from me to the buildings it always show not in a square in the photos. The cars and passengers will always showed on the photos as well. So I googled some pictures and made them into building box. Although there still have some cars, trees and passengers, the building box looks better than before.

I made the portal center today.

I downloaded a Cantina from Market and deleted some sofa, lights and plants. However, I created a softer and brighter light instead them. I also created four portals. First one connected with the fish and chips shop. Second portal connected with the play ground for people relax and communicate with each other. Next is connected with a ground which is going to  build a words and phrases corridor.  In case of needed, we can add one more place in last portal.

I also tried to organized the play ground. I deleted the original stuffs, found some games from the market and put them at the corner of the island. I also find some chairs and a blackboard. I put them as a circle beside the lake. However, the avatar can not sit on the chair so I add some sitting cushions on the chair.


Next Step:

1. Record some words.
2. Take some pictures of Queen Street's shops.
3. Make a Corridor like Queen Street.
4. Put the words in Queen Street 2nd.
5. Add snapper,terikihi and gurnard in fish and chip shop.
6. Move the menu from the left to the back.

I found the way to set the models could be moved in HiFi!

It is same as upload the models into asset browser. However, when you add the object into the sandbox, there is a window will show up.

For these four different choices, only the exact one could not select the Dynamic option. So change the Automatic Collision into others while add the model into the world. Then, the object in the sand box could be moved by people's rift.

Furthermore, this option could also be changed in Properties.

The next step is to find a way that make all the movable object could go back to their original place by themselves.

I tried to make the models I uploaded before could be moved by players' rift. However, I found Dynamic of all models could not be selected. So the models could not moved by players.

The second problem is the blackboard. I want to upload some board like a guide with white color. When I done the model in Blender everything goes well. But The white area will be changed with the skybox when the model imported into the HiFi. I changed a brighter sky box but still need to find a way to keep the white area always be white. Not influenced by skybox.

I made a ketchup bottle which is looks so ugly. I tried to download some models from the blender market or other website, However, most of them should pay some money. Some of models could spend over 50 NZ dollars. It's really expensive. So I made a model in red. Otherwise, the color of this model can be changed into other colors to represent different sauces such as white  bottle is Mayo.

I know how to make the models movable.

First, open the properties page of this model.
Then, change the number of Y as -10.0000 in Gravity page.
Next, click on the Behavior and keep the "Dynamic", the first column, "Grabbable"and "ignore inverse kinematics" on. Just same as the picture showed below.

Now, close this page and you can see the model could move by your VR hands.

I found Simona's sandbox was reload a new one. It's scared me and I remembered that I didn't deleted that. I just backed up the sandbox and send it to her email. I guessed that maybe I drag the folder on the desktop instead of copy and paste. So I download the backups, put it in the folder, and reset the sandbox. Fortunately, the sandbox is coming back and all of things are good!

Then I went to some others place and tried to find something interesting. I also tried to copy some scripts and models into our spaces.

When I work on putting some sound in HiFi, I found that I can't hear anything from HiFi. It's all good yesterday but broke today. I checked the audio of this computer and I have hear the voice come from the website and computer system, but not HiFi.I also checked several settings but not work. I guess it must ne the HiFi problem. Therefore I searched related topic from HiFi forums and someone said check your headphone. So I find out the earphone and it works. After I put off the earphone the audio of HiFi works again! I don't know the reason, but luckily, it works again and I could continue my works.

I worked how to import the sound into High Fidelity during this weekend.


I tried to rewrite the code of Looping sound emitter for several times and last I stop the looping and make it only play for once. Just copy the script URL and paste in Browser, all of the code will comes up. Then we can save them into a notepad. Next step is to open the code, search the "loop" and you can see the code.

Change the yellow true behind red loop into false, the loop will be stop and sound will play only once.

I also found another player in the market which named Ambisonic Emitter - Coastal Ambience. For this player, I could change the sound URL as well. However, the difference between others is I users also could set the range of this sound. When I set the range as 3, the effective distance is 3 meters. Although the sound in this range will be looping again and again, when we walk outside of this space the sound will be disappear.

I think this script is better than last one because it provides the sound in specific place. It will not bother other places. I prefer to use this one unless I could write a new script which the sound will comes up by click the stuff.

By the way, I ask my friend for help and he said"The script( Looping sound emitter) is quite complicated,even some of them I don't understand. I could help you stop the loop but not to write a new one." 😅

The words list were deleted by accident. However, Darryl put forward the word could appear with the pic and sound. For example, when you come in the Fish and Chips Shop, you could see the Kumara chips on the table. You could also see the name card shows on the top of the dish. When you walk near to the table, you could hear the sound to explain the meaning of Kumara. Therefore, we tried to add some sounds into this domain. However, to paste the URL into Collision sound URL doesn't work--URL from both of the internet and asset browser are don't work. The Looping Sound Emitter also been tried. This one is works but the sound is repeat again and again. This really annoying a lot. Furthermore, we found that we could add the sound by run the script. But to write a script which could run into High Fidelity is a challenge for me. I had never write any code like this. Next step is to found a way to add the sound or just write the script.

I made the Words List for the Fish and chips shop. There are some words which used frequently in New Zealand and different from Chinese English books. Chinese didn't use cheers to express their appreciate. Students also been taught into say "How are you""I'm fine, thank you, and you?""I'm fine, too. Thank you." as their daily greeting. So I put these words in my first words list and I believe that would be helpful for international students new here. I also list some words about fish and chips shop such as Kumara, Ketchup and chips. They are really not as we know in China. We have Kumara, but never cook it in chips. In recent years we have shops do that but not very popular. We know what the name of tomato sauce is, but we didn't know what is ketchup. We also think the shape of chips are slices but here it also made into stick.

Furthermore, I put some trees near the road to make the scenery more beautiful.

I found that the quality of skybox will drop off with the size became bigger. So I made the skybox size fitted the fish and chips shop. I also redesigned the road, However, another computer with the sandbox were occupied by other students that I didn't finished this work. Further more, I watched some videos about learning in Virtual Reality and visit some other places to see other people's work. It brings me some ideas when I don't know what to do next.

I made a new skybox which looks better and makes the word list clear. It takes me long time to find a panorama pic could suit in the Equirectangular model size. I also spent an hour to edited the pic looks like an environment in the photoshop. Although it is not perfect, the edges still visible, the final result is good. For the next step, I will add some teaching materials in this fish and chips shop.

I made a word list in blender and import it in HiFi, but is looks very dark. I adjust the shade in blender and import again but still doesn't work. So I made a textural board in HiFi and it looks dark as well. Maybe is it the problem of the skybox?  I'm not very sure but made light and put the light on the board and it looks better. Maybe i should change a brighter skybox.
